About Us
JC’s Customs has been part of the Winter Haven community
since the 70’s, and Cheeseman and co-owner Steve Burroughs,
the fourth owners, bought it in 1999. “We bought it, expanded
it, and relocated it – and now it’s hard to believe
we’ve expanded and relocated again,” Cheeseman mused.
Combined, Cheeseman and Burroughs offer their customers 30 years
of experience in the business.
Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday
from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (closed on Sunday), JC’s offers
complete automobile customization products and services, including
quality wheels, tires, suspension systems, custom audio, mobile
video systems, “and the best window films available for auto,
home, and office,” Cheeseman said. “Our window films
offer either solar protection or hurricane safety, and some are
able to do both, many with a lifetime warranty.”
The
increase in the size of the retail space happened when Cheeseman
and Burroughs opened up this summer in a new location that added
another 6000 square feet of room for the operation. “We went
from 4000 square feet to 10,000 square feet,” explained Cheeseman.
“This allows a much larger, nicer showroom.”
“Now
we can truly show all of the products we offer,” Burroughs
agreed. “Our previous location had limited floor space and
if our customers didn’t see the products, they didn’t
think to ask about them. Now we’re able to display all of
our wheels and tires, for example, and our business in that area
has increased.”
In
addition to the larger showroom, which Cheeseman and Burroughs continue
to tweak, the new location impressively expanded their installation
area. “It more than tripled,” explained Cheeseman, “and
that allows us to accommodate more customers at one time.”
“Our installers are so happy with the added space,”
Burroughs said, explaining that four to five people are customizing
vehicles at any one time.
The
co-owners are also pleased with the new building’s location,
at 515 5th St. SW (one block north of Andy’s Igloo and next
to the News Chief), still in Winter Haven. “Before, we were
located well off the main drag,” Burroughs explained. “Now
we’re right on (US Highway) 17.”
But it isn’t the building that keeps longtime customers coming
back. “We are truly dedicated to service,” said Cheeseman,
proudly. “We take pride in going that extra step…giving
the customer more than they expected, and we try to achieve 100%
customer satisfaction.”
